Awhile back, after reading rave reviews on the COSRX Snail 96 essence I decided that I wanted to give snails another shot!! Years ago when the snail hype first began, I purchased the Elisha Coy's Snail Cream here but wasn't too impressed with it. But then again, at the time I wasn't having the skin issues I have been dealing with recently! After debating and doing a ton of research, I did a little birthday haul here which included this essence and I've been using it essence ever since!
What is the product and what does it actually do?
Well...where do I start!! This product has become a stable in both my morning and evening skincare routine and I would be lost without it!! Yes, it's that good! The CosRX formula contains 96% snail mucin aka snail slime which is quite an impressive percentage! And btw, no snails are harmed in collecting the slime!
It is said to be a light weight gel textured essence that hydrates the skin. This is correct but snail mucin can do so much more!! Yes, snail mucin is moisturizing but it is also antimicrobial so it's great for those that suffer with acne. It is rich in antioxidants and contains both elastin and collagen. Elastin is a protein that is found in the connective tissue that allows the skin to move and "bounce back". Collagen is also a protein that is found in the connective tissues and helps give skin structure and volume. It contains hyaluronic acid that helps to maintain the skins moisture content. It is also rich in Allantoin, a substance that promotes tissue growth and repair. This slimy goodness works in so many ways from providing moisture, antioxidants plus it protects and helps to regenerate skin. It is also beneficial in the treatment of scars, minor abrasion, acne and wrinkles!
Ingredients: What also impresses me is the small list of ingredients! Very good and effective ingredients without all the "fillers" and fragrance! For me and my sensitive skin, I highly appreciate that this product doesn't contain fluff, just good, hard working ingredients. As far as CosDNA, only one ingredient stood out as a possible irritant or acne trigger but a rating of 1 out of 5 is very low on the scale.
Who is the product for? Everyone! It is great for all skin types and especially good for those with acne! That is what originally drew me to purchase this essence as I was looking for a light weight hydrator that would help to calm redness, irritation and help heal blemishes The lines, wrinkle and scarring benefits just make it that more appealing :)
Usage: As you can see, the essence is a clear gooey consistency that reminds me of melted cheese when you pull it apart! I use two pumps of the unscented essence and pat it into my skin with my fingers and palms. It is very easy to apply as it spreads and absorbs nicely into the skin. It has a instant cooling and soothing affect which is another reason I love this essence so much! I use this twice per day after cleansing, actives, first essence and my beloved LJH essence!
Final Thoughts: This essence has become a huge staple and I look forward to using it as it really calms and soothes my skin! I also love that it heals my skin and provides hydration all at the same time! This is a definitely a multi purpose, multi function product as it does so much for the skin! The bottle seems to last forever too so it is very economical. This has definitely made HG status as I honestly couldn't ask for a more perfect product.
