PurpleTale Ode to Hydration Facial Cream Review

I have been testing out a facial cream from the new Korean beauty brand Purpletale and I wanted to share my thoughts with you all.  Purpletale and their pampering skin care philosophy is "to create simple and easy to use products, using only wholesome, enriching ingredients that make you look and feel beautiful".  I love the simplistic design of their packaging and of course I love the purple containers. Purple is my favorite color. When the founder and owner Young-Ji reached out a few months ago, I jumped at the chance to try out this product. Purpletale is becoming more popular in Korea and I wanted to see what all the buzz was about. Purpletale is based in South Korea and ships to the US.

To start, my skin type during this time of the year is normal to combination. My skin can also be quite sensitive and temperamental. I am usually very acne prone however, with the incorporation of Curology, my skin has been less breakout prone. My review will reflect how this cream works for my personal skin type and condition and as always, your results may vary.

The Claim:
Ode to Hydration claims to repair a variety of skin care concerns including reviving dull complexions, helping with fine lines, dark spots and blemishes. This cream claims to be for all skin types.

Packaging:
This cream comes in a sturdy purple glass jar with a tiny spatula and contains 1.7 fl. oz / 50 ml.  Again, I appreciate the glass jar and the simple yet beautiful packaging.

Patch Testing:
Every product I use goes through a very detailed patch testing period. I always patch test and I recommend patch testing to everyone. This is how I introduce new skin care products to my easily irritated skin. Patch testing can look different for everyone but for me, I test products in stages. For this particular cream, I applied it to my more sensitive areas, a different location every night for four nights. If no reaction occurs, I move forward and begin to apply the product to half of my face. I will also do this twice within a 24 hour period. If all goes well, I begin to use the product on my entire face and neck. This cream did not cause any reaction whatsoever nor did it cause me to have any issues with breakouts.

Texture and Formula:
This is a rich yet lightweight cream that once it meets the skin, it absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy or oily residue. It has a dense yet watery texture that glides onto the skin and feel so good. Out of all the moisturizing creams this is by far the most elegant cream I have used in a long time. There is just something about the texture and how it is so easy to apply. I adore how it is rich without feeling heavy on the skin.

The main ingredients are centella, peptides, copper, niacinamide, adenosine and ginseng.  It also contains polyglutamic acids (natto), sodium hyaluronate, shea butter, macadamia seed oil, olive fruit oil and jojoba seed oil. This cream does have a light and delicate scent of aloe and cucumber. It is very refreshing and soft but does dissipate rather quickly. I cannot deny that I think the ingredients are pretty stellar and I love the scent.

Results

This cream does a very good job at hydrating my skin and works very well over the many layers of other skin care products I use on a daily basis. This also works very well under makeup. After using this consistently, I noticed my skin was much more balanced. Since incorporating this into my skincare routine, my skin has also been less oily in my t-zone and my cheeks are less tight. I also noticed that while using this my skin looked brighter and more plump.

Overall:

This honestly puts all of the other creams I have tried over the past few years to shame! It is just that good! I am actually blown away by how much I love this facial cream. I thought it might be a fluke so I actually used it a week longer just to see if I was imagining things but nope, this cream is pretty amazing. I have used almost three quarters of the jar and I am very sad that it is almost gone. Would I repurchase? Oh yeah, no question I would repurchase this in a heartbeat.
