First Impression: Natural Pacific Fresh Herb Calendula Tincture Toner

Hey everyone! I wanted to quickly share my first impression on the Natural Pacific Fresh Herb Calendula Tincture Toner. I did post a review seen here on my Instagram but for some, I wanted to make a post for those of you who aren't on Insta. Here is my first impression review of the Fresh Herb Calendula Tincture Toner from the brand Natural PacificI have recently incorporated this into my skincare routine using a new skin care method called a "Toner Wash". If you would like more information on what the heck a toner wash is, just keep reading.

The Claim:
This product is a concentrated tincture and claims to calm, soothe and moisturize the skin while improving texture and increasing elasticity. This is also supposed to balance the skin and give the skin a radiant glow.

Ingredients: found here on cosDNA.

Notable ingredients include 90% calendula water & extract. Ivy, centella asiatica extracts and allantoin (anti-inflammatory), lactococcus ferment, Vitamin e (antioxidant), hydrolyzed collagen, (moisture/plumping), arginine and other skin conditioning plant and herb extracts. This also contains papaya enzyme and malt extract to help remove dead skin. The toner wash is very similar to the popular Blithe splash mask in that it does help exfoliate the skin but this product is definitely more medicinal. I would also like to mention that this has centella asiatica, one of my favorite ingredients because it is an anti-inflammatory but it also reduces redness, kills bacteria, heals and repairs the skin.

What is a tincture?
So you might be wondering what is a tincture! A tincture is a combination of herbs and extracts that have been steeped for 4-6 weeks. Another way of looking at it is to think of a tincture like a tea on steroids. Tinctures are very concentrated so you usually want to dilute them in water as often directed by a Naturopath. This toner can be used as a toner which I did to patch test or it can be used as a toner wash. A toner wash is simply diluting the tincture in water and splashing your face. This method is suppose to help flush out toxins on the skin's surface &in the pores with medicinal ingredients. Think of it like cleaning out a wound. As far as how much splashing  you should do, I splashed for about 1-2 minutes.

How to incorporate this into your skin care routine:
I have used this method both in the morning and in the evening with the same results. In the morning, I would cleanse, toner wash and then proceed with my FTE, toner etc. In the evening I would double cleanse, toner wash and then use my FTE or toner, essence etc.

Results:
I have been incorporating the toner wash method and I can say that although messy, this has made a huge impact in how my skin looks and feels. I was pretty skeptical but this has made my skin incredible soft and smooth and has decreased redness. The biggest result that I have seen so far is that it has helped a few stubborn breakouts to heal. One blemish in particular has been hanging on for dear life and poof, it is almost gone. I have also noticed that while I normally get a red scar after a blemish as come and gone, something I like to refer to as a partying gift! Since using this tincture in my daily routine, those red PIE (post inflammatory erythema) spots have decreased. I am very fair and will always be very prone to this type of post acne scarring, however I have noticed that the pimple area is far less red.

I absolutely love anything natural and herbal, especially calendula because it is so healing and calming. I knew this would help calm my often sensitive skin but I am really surprised how it helped heal acne and keep my pores clear. I will continue to use this and post a final review in the next few weeks but for now, I would highly recommend.

  2. Is this still relevant for today? Or have things changed? What I'm curious about is how this will carry out, like what will the trend be for this type of stuff?
