Caudalie Review

Awhile ago, well about a month ago I was buying a few things for a friend at Sephora and I picked up one of the 500 point Beauty Insider perks by Caudalie.

Caudalie's Beauty Essentials

This collection are Caudalie's Top Picks.  This includes the Cleansing Water, Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum and Vinoperfecting Day Perfecting Fluid SPF 15.

Let me start by reviewing the two that I have used....

I want to first start by telling you about the SOS Serum...

This is a brand new item from Caudalie.  This is a oil free serum that continuously diffuses water deep within the skin to restore its moisture balance.  This is for all skin types and especially great for someone with dehydrated skin as this will help to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day and night. The research indicates that 61% experienced a decrease in skin sensitivity and 127% saw an increase in hydration.

This contains organic grape water, grape seed polyphenols and hyaluronic acid and retails for $48 USD for 30ml.

This is a very light weight milky serum that smells like fresh grapes :) The scent is a big strong so for those who are scent sensitive, I would beware.  It soaks into the skin leaving it very soft and hydrated.  It was not sticky or hard to absorb, it just sank in making my skin feel very comfortable.  It's not your typical serum texture which are normally very thin or watery.  However, it is not heavy.  I really enjoyed using this serum and I do believe I saw a difference in how hydrated my skin was plus my skin seemed less reactive.  My skin can be very sensitive and irritable and this did calm it down! This did not cause any reactions or breakouts.

Would I repurchase? Maybe....I think $48 dollars is a little high.  However, if it works for you and doesn't cause reaction then it would be a good buy!

The next product I wanted to write about is the Vinoperfect Day Perfecting Fluid SPF 15...

This is a very elegant, creamy yet light textured lotion that has a slight iridescent finish (contains Mica)

This oil free moisturizer claims to reduce dark spots and even skin tone.  It also claims to reduce pore size over time.  Plus it contains an SPF. Their research show that 100% of people saw an immediate radiance glow....this is due to the mica! They also say that 89% saw a reduction in pores on application.  The reason for that is due to the high concentration of dimethicone! It's a esthetic quick fix but nothing long term!

So...looking at the ingredients I just don't see what in this formulation that would fade dark spots! This does contain a lot of plant extracts and their signature grape seed.  Unless Caudalie claims that these grape seed polyphenols, which is an antioxidant can fade hyper pigmentation, I really don't see how this formula can produce the results they are claiming. I didn't see a change in my pigmentation however you would need to use this longer than the deluxe sized sample to see any differences!

Regardless, this IS a very smooth, light weight lotion that makes my skin feel super soft and hydrated. It did give my skin a slight glow but I really didn't see a big difference in pore size. And again, a high amount of fragrance in this product! This did not cause any reactions or breakouts.

Would I purchase again? This puppy retails for $72 USD for 40ml!! It's not a product I would pay that amount of money for since it didn't perform up to par.

I do love that all Caudalie products are formulated without:

Parabens
Sulfates
Synthetic Dyes
Petrochemicals
Phthalates
GMO's (genetically modified organisms)
Triclosan

What do you think?? Have you tried any Caudalie products??
