March Skin Care Update

Happy March! It's about that time to give you all an update on my skin care progress. I am happy to report that my skin is doing fantastic. I am so please with my progress and truly cannot believe it has almost been a year since all the trouble began. For those of you who haven't been following me along my journey to clear skin, here is a little background info...

I originally posted here and publicly "came out" that I, a medial Esthetician was battling acne. This was one of the most difficult decisions I have made as a blogger but I knew that my story could inspire others and possibly help someone who was suffering like I was. I updated my blog here and here about my progress with using Curology and changing my skin care routine to incorporating mostly Korean skin care products.

Fast forwarded several months and my Curology RX has since changed as my skin has greatly improved. Here is the difference in my prescription...

As you can see from the picture above, my tretinoin has increased just slightly and we have moved to incorporating Vitamin C and Niacinamide to help fade post acne scars. I no longer have anti-acne/anti-fungal ingredients in my prescription so I rely on my other skin care products and ingredients such as tea tree and centella to help curb breakouts. I have been using the CosRX Centella Blemish Cream and CosRX Low PH Cleaner, LJH Tea Tree Mist and the W.Lab CentelLace Ampoule and loved the results so far. I can tell a big difference when I don't use these products in my daily skin care routine.

In additional to using the products above, I would also suggest the use of AHA and BHA on a weekly basis. I currently use Paula's Choice BHA 2% Liquid (get $10 off your first order with link) and I love the results. This has also made such a difference in how my skin looks and feels because it helps to keep pores clear, kills bacteria and exfoliate.

AHA is also important because it helps exfoliate in a different way. Alpha Hydroxy Acid kills bacteria and increases the rate of cell turnover, preventing the skin from clogging. I personally love the CosRX AHA Power Liquid I purchased on Memebox. I use both BHA and AHA a each a few times a week as that is all my sensitive skin can handle. Your skin strength can vary so it is vital you listen to your skin on how much exfoliation your skin can handle.

I also use a ton of sheet masks and wash off masks so don't forget to follow me on Instagram.

I don't want to forget to mention the use of Spearmint tea! I serious feel that this has also made a huge contribution to healing my acne. I want to also point out that I have made some lifestyle changes such as eating healthier and increasing my daily fluid intake, changing my pillow case after two nights, using a separate towel every day to wash and keeping my hands off of my face....did you know that we touch our face about 2,000 times per day! I truly believe that these are all good habits for healthy skin and a healthy body.

Here is what my skin looks like now. As you can see I still have a lot of scarring that I am working on fading and lightening. I now have lots of broken capillaries and my pores are more pronounced, especially in the center of my checks. Overall, I feel my skin is a million times better and I owe it all to Curology and a good skin care routine.

progression

I will continue to update my blog and Instagram on my skin care progress but needless to say I am thrilled with my results. I want to stress that this process has taken about six months to achieve results and I am still working on my skin care goals. This time frame can definitely differ from person to person but it takes a lot of patience and perseverance. It also takes a big commitment! A commitment to using well formulated products and ingredients, a commitment of the time it takes to care for your skin every morning and night and most of all...it takes a commitment in making some lifestyle changes that promote healthy skin.

As always, I love hearing from you so please reach out by leaving a comment below. I would also love to hear product recommendations that have helped you fight breakouts and brighten your complexion.

Stay Beautiful ❤️
